Melanie's was launched in October 2007, we chose to move to Louth because of the abundance of excellent produce available locally, even the Cider we sell is made from Lincolnshire Apples.
We are commited to local sourcing and have recently been Highly Commended in the 'Taste of Lincolnshire awards 2009'. Taste of Lincolnshire was set up by Lincolnshire County Council to promote the use of locally sourced and produced food and drink
The Restaurant is named after our daughter Melanie who has just completed a course in Graphic design at Lincoln University earning a 2.1. She is currently working in a graphic design Studio in Redcar, Cleveland.
It has always been a long held dream to buy and run our own Restaurant, to use locally sourced ingredients, making each element of the menu from Bread to Pudding and creating a pleasurable dining experience for our guests.
Steven is the Chef and Aileen is Front of House, both of us have pursued careers in the Hotel and Catering Industry and together have over 60 years experience, this is our first venture together in our own business.
Steven started working in Hotels and Restaurants and moved to industrial catering in the 90's. In 1983 he had the honour to be part of the team who cooked for Her Majesty the Queen at a Dinner to mark the 350th anniversary of the raising of the Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment).Steven has also had the opportunity to cook for Princess Anne, the King of Sweden as well as some TV Personalities such as Kate Adey.
He has predominately worked in London and Edinburgh in Hotels and Restaurants, as well as some Sporting Venues such as Murrayfield Stadium and Middlesbrough and Sunderland Football Stadiums. Although Steven's last position was working as a Group Manager for a large American Catering Company, his passion has always been food, cooking has always been his pleasure and sharing this pleasure is what our Restaurant is all about.
Aileen obtained a degree in Hotel and Catering Administration and pursued a career in Hotels.Mainly working as a Front of House Manager, she has also been a Banqueting Manager for a number of years, organising Wedding Receptions for up to 250 guests, also running functions such as Sportsmans Dinners where she had the opportunity to meet several famous personalities such as George Best, Kevin Keegan and Jackie Charlton.
For many years she worked for Virgin Hotels in Four Star Country House Hotels, where service was paramount, when the Prime Minister is your guest, it has to be just so.
We do hope that in the coming years, you will join us for a meal, whether it be Sunday Lunch, Lunch or Dinner. Occassionally there will be a guest appearance by Melanie. s and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.
